therapy for adhd in portland, oregon.
I provide therapy for those in Portland or the state of Oregon who are diagnosed with ADHD or are experiencing ADHD symptoms.
Whether you have a diagnosis or not, living with ADHD or what you think might be ADHD can feel like everyone got the memo for “how to life” except you. As someone with ADHD, I know how hard it can be to navigate a world not set up for you. without creating systems and tools to set you up for success, it can feel like you’re always one, two, or three steps behind. You are not broken, and together we can create those systems so you can thrive.

my approaches to adhd therapy:
Skill Building: I always say, you don’t know what you don’t know. Therapy is an amazing space to learn skills to help you cope with emotions and the tasks of everyday life!
Mindfulness: Don’t worry, I won’t force you to meditate (unless you want to)! Mindfulness comes in all shapes and forms to help you slow down and experience life to the fullest.
Self-Compassion: The way you speak to yourself matters. In our work together, we will examine your patterns of self-talk and self-understanding. Self-compassion allows you to develop a respectful and caring relationship with yourself and others.
Internal Family Systems: There are so many parts of you that are serving you in different ways. We will take a deeper look into the parts of you that are helping, those that are hurting, and those that might do a little of both!
“i now see how owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we will ever do.”

adhd therapy faq’s
+ how does adhd therapy work?
Together we will figure out what's causing you the most trouble in your life and create systems and strategies to cope with those challenges. We might focus on procrastination, executive function, emotion regulation, and more. Therapy for ADHD works just like any other therapy, but I know firsthand how much ADHD or ADHD symptoms can impact your life. So a lot of the work we do will likely center around helping you through those struggles.
+ do i have to be diagnosed with adhd?
Nope! You do not have to be diagnosed with ADHD to work with me and to benefit from the skills and strategies used to cope with ADHD. If you suspect you have ADHD and want to be assessed for a diagnosis, that's something we can talk about together.
+ can you diagnose me with adhd?
Although I cannot directly diagnose you with ADHD, I can help assess whether or not seeking a diagnosis might be helpful for you. If it seems beneficial, I will help you find referrals to someone who can provide that official ADHD diagnosis.
+ do you treat children or adolescents?
At this time I primarily work with adults and adolescents ages 16+.
+ how do you know you’re the right therapist for me?
I don’t! That’s why I offer a free 15-minute consult call for us to get to know each other before choosing whether or not it will be a good fit. I recommend 1-3 sessions for us to get to know each other if we decide to move forward because it can always be awkward starting a new therapy relationship! If it ever doesn’t feel like a good fit, I’m happy to provide referrals to other trusted therapists.
+ do you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance, which protects your privacy and allows me to keep my rates appropriate. Paying privately means that your treatment is solely between us and your mental health diagnosis and other information is not shared with an insurance company. You can learn more about my rates and insurance reimbursement here.
hi, i’m Lauren! i provide adhd therapy in portland, oregon.
Hi! I’m Lauren (she/her), a queer, neurodivergent therapist and intuitive eating coach who supports individuals who want to break free from the rules of life they were told they “should” follow.
I’ve been there - I lived my life based on how I thought I was “supposed” to. All I wanted was to be able to achieve being the most desireable, productive, and “good” person in any room. I realized quickly how not only impossible that is, but also how miserable that is. Although my journey and my story will be different from yours, I’m here to help you ditch the “shoulds” and live a life that you can actually, well, live.
